Henschke Henry’s Seven Shiraz/Grenache/Viognier 2001

Wonderful! Medium plum red. Cherries and plum on the nose with a hint of white flowers. Palate in perfect balance, with red fruits and florals evident. Elegant wine. Long finish with Shiraz fruit, Grenache structure and Viognier florals. Lovely silky tannins. James Halliday gave this 90 in 2004. This bottle has a cork seal.

18.5/20 [tasted 11-06-2011] Henschke

Bought Webb’s Auctions. Good value at $25.00 in 2005. Stored in a cool spare room.

The winery’s notes on release:

Bright crimson in colour showing fragrant aromas of plum, blackberry, raspberry and anise with floral nectarine hints (from the viognier). The palate is nicely structured with the viognier adding a certain textural richness, finishing long with silky soft tannins.
